1/18 Die Cast Cars? HO Slot Cars? Car collections!

I know *MAYHEM* will appreciate this (we we're PM'ing about this a few weeks ago even). I know a lot of you build models (see our 2 huge model car threads), and a lot of you collect TBird/Cougar stuff (who here doesn't?), but how many buy these 1/18 cars? I know the Muscle Car stuff is popular (I do have 6 AMX's), but for me it's exotics, Ferrari's in particular. I just can't help it, they are such nice designs!

I bring this up now because I just got a deal on some original Bburago 1/18's from a guy on craigslist practically giving them away (moved to a new house, wife said you get to keep the Corvette's only). I picked up a few Porsche's, an Alpine, a Gullwing Mille Miglia racer, and some 1/43's for John, but the big deal to me was 3 different 550 Maranello's (my favorite Ferrari by a long shot) and an original 288 GTO (the ultra-rare, twin-turbo, rear engine Ferrari, pre-F40)!

So here's my Ferrari's (L to R, Front row to back):
Toro Rosso 550 Maranello
Black Metallic 550 Maranello
Gunmetal Metallic (I swear this color is dead nuts to 83-84 Smoke Grey on TC's!) 550 Maranello
Yellow 550 Barchetta
Blue Metallic 456GT
Toro Rosso 288 GTO
Toro Rosso Enzo
Toro Rosso F50 Barchetta
Toro Rosso F360 Challenge Stradale

Dark Grey Cat, Einstein

I've got others too (Aston, Porsche, Viper, Vette, Lambo, etc) but I like these best! :D

So what do you guys collect?

Nice Cavalino Collection. :D

Here's part of mine:

I have made claim to having one of the most complete collections of HO scale Ferrari slot cars in the world. There are currently two production slot cars I don't have and they are from Poland and very hard to find.

The second pic is two of the additions since the first pic was taken last spring. I have added 7 more since that pic was taken.

The last pic is just to let you know it's not all about Ferraris. :D

You're missing some A/FX 512's :hick:

And the original Aurora Thunderjets 250 GTO's:

And only one TJet Dino? You know they make solid colors too right?

Gotta love that Daytona and 250SWB. I couldn't
bring myself to pay the $$$$ for them :( You know he does a 250 GTO too?

These are what I mentioned getting recently:

Gotta get these still:

And lastly, everybody forgets Marchon (pre-Rokar who became LifeLike):

But man that's a cool collection. There's probably a dozen cars there I've never seen before! So, what are the new ones then? :D

Here's a breakdown of my collection.

- 1/18 muscle cars/ exotics, approx 30
- HO slot cars, approx 40 including my dad's original Thunderjet Mustang that still runs beautifully and two steerable AFX cars.
- Hot Wheels/ Matchbox approx 300.

My Nascar collection is where it's really at though.
Last time I counted about 3 years ago, I had about...
 700+ 1/64 cars,
60-70 1/24,
6 1/18,
30 1/43,
50 1/144 plus a slew of various scaled transporters and stuff.

Sometimes I can't believe all the stuff I have. I'll have to get some pictures on here.

I have the other color 512Ms I just dont display them often as they are not Ferrari colors. The yellow and blue is an exception as that was the colors Penske campained with Donohue. And I have 6 of the 250 GTOs including the flamethower version and the Excelorator version. I don't all excited about different colors because only two are really acceptable, red and yellow. Yellow is only acceptable on a few models. Red is the factory color, yellow cars were sold to privateers.

Good point on the colors! The 512's were fun for me simply because they were pretty easy to find. The 250GTO's are harder, but the classic Red/White is the only one to really have.

How do you like the resin 250SWB? Was it worth the $$$?

That Metro is pretty sweet too!

So what do the 1/18's look like?

Nice thread. Gave me an excuse to play around with photoshop a little. Here are some of my Jada 1/24 scale cars. I like the Big Time Muscle series.

Here's my dream garage, heheh...

Picture Time... I have more but about half of the stuff is either packed away or I just can't get any pictures of it. I have to get some order to this stuff. Just think, if I could sell everything, I could buy a Tbird and a Cougar for every year from '83-'88 :hick:

3 48 car hotwheels cases full (just have the really good ones in them) along with a few of my 1/18 cars.

Steerable ThunderJet cars

My dad's original Mustang TJ with my 2005? re-relaesed version.

Slot Cars!

Remote Control Lightning.

Some of the Nascar stuff. Some of these pics were from 10 years ago.

Oh snap!

Nice collection! Those TJets are pretty rare and those 1/18's look nice. Are those original black-box Racing Champions I spy?

Haha! Actually it isn't. It's from The #40 Channellock Busch car driven by Kerry Earnhardt.

If you look closely behind the Lightning, there's another fender. This was from the June '98 Dover race and came off of Kenny Wallace's #81 Square D car. I had been going to Busch races since '93 but that race in '98 was my first cup one.

Why yes they are. The earliest one that I have still in the package is from 1990.
Since I was 5 when those cars came out, I opened them up and played with them of course. I do have three of the first '89 cars released but I played with those so things like the removable rubber tires are missing. Ever since I was 9, I started buying the cars to keep mint in the packaging which included finding replacements for the ones I destroyed, er opened.
