thinks of getting this as a new daily driver

Well my '93 Buick Century (3.3 V6) is starting to drive me nuts. The car has 139,000 miles (most I see at the wreakers are toast at about 100,000) and it's just going to hell. My exhaust just started to leak and it seems like the last straw:hick: . As it stands right now the car needs:

Exhaust replaced from the cat back
Trans slipps a bit when cold
Leaks oil from: front main, rear main, valve covers (easy fix), intake manifold, and oil pan (ok everywhere :hick: )
Wheel bearings need to be replaced (again  it).

Car is also rusting bad along the bottom of the doors, quarter panels, and fenders. Under body is surprisingly clean though.

I'm thinking of replacing it with this: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=227105072&dealer_id=565111&car_year=1988&model=COUGAR&num_records=&make2=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&make=MERC&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=60638&advanced=&end_year=1988&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=3 since I know alot about them;) Do you guys think it would be a good idea or a money pit? Or should I just see how long the Buick lasts (maybe till next fall '08 I hope)?

Its gotta be better than the Buick. But I'm a little on the partial side.

I wouldn't pay more than $1200 for that.  Has some good options, too

I wonder why the back panel is down in the trunk.  Do a VIN check.

Looks clean too.  $100 for a set of turbines and you're in.

Edit - Wait, the Black one with 9K miles is only $900 more and in the same town.  Why are you even considering this one?

Grab the cougar and just undercoat the  out of it.  That is what has saved my XR-7 from 19 years of snow.

Hmm that might be a plan. I'm hopefully going to go look at it this week. I'm just not going to pay $1,995 for it. That seems to be a bit high priced. I do want to look at it first before making a decision. Who knows the underside could be rusted all to hell :pbb:

I think it looks like poo:hick:

It's probably got a 2.73 open. Should be fun in the snow. As long as it lasts till I get a brand newish car (fall 2008) I might start modifying it too. T-bird gets all the money first though;)

Because the black one is waaaaaaay too nice to drive every day in the winter. It would be a crime to expose that car to salt :shakehead
