Oh so tempted.. September 20, 2007, 09:13:00 AM To buy:http://saskatoon.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-under-5K-1989-Cougar-XR7-Supercharged-W0QQAdIdZ22412184That, of course I'd have to sell the '88 and lend money from the bank or my dad, its perfect, black, XR7, 5 spd., leather, sunroof, sounds like an ad! I really, really want it!So should I get it or keep the '88 and do some performance mods? Quote Selected

The only way I could buy the car is by having my mom buy it for a DD and then give it to me cause she can't drive stick, that way she could drive the '88 and I would have two Cougars! Well partially anyway. Quote Selected
Oh so tempted.. Reply #4 – September 20, 2007, 09:26:24 AM Three words.Black hides rust. You'd have to check it out first before jumping to any conclusions. It does look very nice though. My boss had a red one with black leather interior. She traded it on a Five-Hundred Quote Selected

Oh so tempted.. Reply #7 – September 20, 2007, 11:27:18 AM They were Mercury's version of the Super Coupe and were only available for 1989 & 1990. Then in 1991 they were "dumbed down" and were just more or less a basic Cougar with the HO 5.0 engine. They are pretty rare, especially a 1990 model with the 5-speed.1989 XR-7 total production - 4,7802,101 manual trans. / 2,679 automatic1990 XR-7 total production - 4,156823 manual trans. / 3,333 automaticBrent:cougarsmily: Quote Selected

Oh so tempted.. Reply #10 – September 20, 2007, 03:32:00 PM I jumped on the '88 and got a shiznit load of rust, and I paid waaaayyy too much for it, about 3 months after I bought it about 3 or 4 '88s went on the market for 800-900, I paid 2,500 for this one. :flame: Quote Selected
Oh so tempted.. Reply #11 – September 20, 2007, 03:50:08 PM The ONLY other one of those Ive ever seen was in the junkyard. Im not sure if it was a 89 or 90 but it was a 5 speed and had something like 230,000 miles. It was a sad site definately, but it had been driven well at least and not just junked at 70,000 or something because some idiot didnt feel like changing head gaskets. They are a very rare car. Of the less than 3,000 5 speeds made how many do you think are still on the road? You know a lot of people dont bother to change the head gaskets on them so that thins the herd out pretty good. Oh so tempted.. Reply #12 – September 20, 2007, 04:19:51 PM Those would become a true piece of ford´s car history in the next years, even more with the manual tranny (just think how many cougars before 1993 have manual transmision) The price , is a bit high. For here is normal to pay (and i´ll pay if i had the money) 5,000 or even 6´000 USD for a 93 SC´ed Cougar in good condition. Those engines have 315lb/ft of torque ! i wonder if those can break 140 MPH. Quote Selected

Stock AOD and 4R70W equipped SC’s and XR7’s can approach135-140 mph, but become rev limited around that speed."Brent:cougarsmily: Quote Selected
Oh so tempted.. Reply #14 – September 20, 2007, 08:14:37 PM ! Why did you have to tell me it was rare? Now I really want it! I'd love to have it but I bet it sold already, if not I guess I could call the guy and take it for a test flight to see how it goes.. Quote Selected
