on to math game number 2

real life math..

from the last thread

http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=15871

same as before

i drive a heavy duty truck.. if i start from a dead stop then drive say 180 miles "90 miles each way" at 60 miles an hour thats as fast as the truck goes.. how long will it take to to go from point A to point B and back to point A again?

but now with real life stuff to stop you..traffic,slow moving vehicles to dodge, stop signs, stop lights, speed limits, school zones, and so on...

what i will type will be for each way. so every thing is times two.. does'nt need to be an exact figure just a close idea..

ok

on this 180 mile drive 90 miles each way..

i hit about 25 traffic lights about 1 min each..

5 school zones at 20MPH.. about 1 mile each..

10 stop signs about 20 seconds each..

5 35MPH zones for about 2 miles each..

2 55MPH zones for about 5 miles each..

have to drive behind slow moving vehicles for abour 10 miles at about 10MPH under the speed limit..

10 minuites for my dam coffee and a quick bite to eat while i drive  which i get an half an hour lunch a day..

now this drive i have three customers deliver to which will take about 15 to 30 minutes depends on what i have for them and if i have to wait for them on site.. it could take longer but this is a good number to use.. and this figure will only be time one not like the rest of the figures which are times two..

now just to remind you every time you stop the truck and start to accelerate again it will take about 30 to 40 seconds to do so..

hmm, 10 mph under the speed limit...just to help out others, u gotta figure, this 10 miles stretch could take place in either a 20 mph zone, 35 mph zone, 55 mph zone, or 60 mph zone. that could make a huge difference in your ;calculations'
1988 Thunderbird sport
2004 Ford F150 Lariat
2008  Chevrolet Cobalt Sport
2007 Suzuki DR-Z400S dual sport/Supermoto
1988 Thunderbird LX - sold
1988 Mercury Cougar XR-7 with GST kit - gone

good point but most of it is on the highway.. just from experince it will cost about 30-45 minutes  for the whole drive back and forth give or take again i'm not looking for exact figures just a roundabout idea..

the whole point of these threads is the people at my job said it should take no more then 4 hours to do..

i just wanted to see what you guys came up with based of the infomation i gave you

that was'nt part of the question..

I could always do a sensitivity buttstuffysis to find out how how much the speed zone in which the stop signs/lights rest plays into the overall time, but that is just more work for me.

using averages and ratios,,

i come up with  430minutes (7hr 10 min) pushing it.  your gonna be  lucky to average 30mph with the info you provided.
Basically, this does not include a food break or the couple drink stops.  I call it whole shift with possible OT if it works out like that.

OT, man all that confusion and thinking there’s no way I’m doing it under 8 hours, sounds like a money making day
