Um........sure......$30.00.............LOL.Actually,the fenders can probably be had for $40-$50.00 for the pair,in great shape.Possibly less on a good day.I'll be trying to get the rear brake sensors and the wheel center caps from the Mark Saturday.

metal tape cost 4 bucks, under coat was 2 cans at 3 bucks each, silicone was 2 bucks so i think its body repair on the cheap

Trunk Lid

Here ya go Mason,
I did this quick fix the last time I painted the cougar.
I used 26 ga. galvanized heat duct metal. lol  Had some laying around and figured what the heck.
If I show you what I did with the door skins, You'll flip. There galvanized metal too

My trunk was rusted and rotted away up to the lock

I also just realized that I put the emblems on in the reverse order. lol
The inside was pretty much gone too
I bent the inside with a pair of hand brakes, the curve was fun. (not really)
I even drilled weep holes. I wasn't worried about the inside since this was going to be a temporary fix till I found another lid. They were also hard to find up here even 10-12 years ago

You can see that the inside looks nothing like the original, but it works to this day. I do see a little rust starting though. If I had the talent I have now with metal I would have done things a little different. Now I'm just going to replace it with a rust free lid

Hope this gives you inspiration to not give up.
that job cost me a quart of waterproof bondo and 1 weekend of my time. if you want to see the door bottom fix, let me know. that one was even easier.

humm we have a metal break at school too... Might just have to do that!! i got a sheet of nice stainless, and if i fix it I will only fix the inside, and outside where the fake "spare tire" is. I dont want to do anything that will look like i worked on it lol. If i undercoat the area of the fake "spare tire" at least it would look that off. Im starting to not be so angry about this car, now that It looks pretty good with the black lower part! Now once i get the trim mounts and the trim on the car will look BA!

If you can get your hands on a brake and some sheet metal, you'll be laughin. I riveted all the earlier stuff that i did. now I would epoxy the metal instead of riveting it. (nothing to countersink)
BTW stainless is real tough to bend.

How did you get the ler to fit.I just bought two 2 1/2" to 2 1/4" adapters from Autozone for about $5.00 for the pair.Slide 'em on and no more worries.I clamp everything until I get it just where I want it,then have everything welded.

Well I used a straight section of 2 1/2 inch pipe for an extension cause the old lers was HUGE. Then the section of pipe i had to use from the stpen 15 exhaust was a bend, so I placed the bend in so it contacted all sides, and filled the cracks with weld. Not ideal, but I had to make the car legal in one class period at school(did HOLE INSTALL IN 45 MINS, including test fit and weld...) Worked with what he bought. Used a clamp and tightened realllly hard on the other end of the ler and it crimped in and held on with no leaks. Sounds rumbly as hell now for a rover. I didnt want to hack it, but he needed a favor as the stock ler rotted, so I did him a favor and fixed it best I could do with what I had, and in the time I had.
