I must say that most people inspire me on here. To do the car the way I want, and to really grow up. More then that, just the willingness to help each other and teh understandingness that we have.

That might have been a "build" shot. They had a ton of pictures of the build, but this is the only pic I could find since then.

The Hawk has been a huge influence for me, because his suspension works serves its purpose. He open tracks the car, and built it to run hard. He was able to build the car up to corner, haul ass, and look  good.

Ed has also been a huge influence. Ever since i hopped on the forums, i was infactuated with his car. I love the blue/silver combo, on the waffle stars. I love that he makes some  good power, and it doesnt make the power in the straight line, itll make and hold the power turning. He took me for a ride at CatJam, and i was impressed. Ive ridden in a few heavily modded f-bodies, but his car felt so balanced. Its a feeling i strive for out of my cars.

TurboCoupe50 has influenced my next project. His car looks 100% stock. Even when you open the hood to see a 5.0. He did such a good job installing the 5.0, that you dont even think it came with anything else. The entire car is clean, 110% functional, runs very quick 1/4 mile times, while being very reliable and solid.

Erics car influences me, not by giving me ideas, but by making me think "if he can make this and that...i can too". His car gives me inspiration to think outside of the off-the-shelf setups, and to not mimmick other peoples cars. While we are limited to many parts and ideas, his car is rolling proof that we can do nearly whatever we want.

Chuck W. His car, much like the Hawks, is 100% purpose built, and a gorgeous car. His car as a whole is a huge inspiratiofrom the clean cage install, to the suspension work, the paint and body work, the wheels and tires...i cant single one thing out about the car. Not only is his car inspirational, his knowledge and information is vast. He can tell you about almost anything that deals with these cars...unless its a V8.

Meh.
It's Gumby's fault.

anyone on here that has done body-kits or particularly interesting modifications normally delegated to old hot-rods, i look up to. i laughed out loud when i saw eric's pics of his 86 on his site. the paint job, the extensive body kit, and the SIDE PIPES just astonished me. i couldnt believe there were actually people (because it turned out he wasnt the only one doing this) that liked these cars particularly, and enough to do all the visual hop-ups every one else with a stang or camaro or popular muscle car has done. it seemed weird to me, because to me my dad's car did seem sort of like a "grampa car" and i was surprised at how good it could look with that stuff done to it.

btw i never have gotten the story straight on Karl's car "After". whats up with the headlights? I thought I read somewhere that they are BMW headlights? no? what are they from then? they completely change the front end around. for me its very striking because i like round headlights better, which is a big reason i dont care for cars late 70s and after usually, because of the changeover to sqaure lights.

its incredibly stupid to wish time away but I have to say i really cant wait until these cars are as old as the 50s and 60s era cars that are so popular today, to see what people think of them then and what their reactions to cars that some of our members here have.

also i REALLY would like to go to CatJam this year. I would love to see these things in person. i havent even suggested it to mom yet. she'll flip out i KNOW it. 7 hour drive...need to get a hotel room etc. *sigh* who knows maybe ill get lucky but i really want to meet the wonderful people behind the cars. talking with them online is sure great but in the end its just text. :(

I love the look of Quicksilver and Chuckw's T-Bird's. If I had to trade mine for another,it would be 1 of the 2.

Shoot!  I forgot about Ed's, I went for a rip in that thing too, video taped it, man was it a fun ride.  He was hilarious too, had a blast hanging out at the last CJ I was at.  Yeah he would be added to the list as well

Christ, after reading through this thread I feel guilty for forgetting about all the others.

There are just so many different takes on what people think these cars should be, from Chuck's 5.0 car converted to a TC all the way to Tom's TC converted to a 5.0 car, and everything in between. Sorry for forgetting names, and on a dialup connection I'm not about to go looking for 'em, but there are just so many. There's that TC with the Cobra IRS, Chuck's SHO swap (and Aussie inline 6 swap), Nate's T56 swap (I remember when that car was my car's twin), the partially gold Bird that was gonna get the 32V swap but the owner bailed and bought a Mustang (You know who you are :hick:), Weasle's car, Carl's cars, the under-200-mile TC, the Kenne Bell 20th Cougar, Ed's Cougar (Does Ed still post here?), Sleeper's big-block-turned-turbo-4 TC, and of course Eric's and Baxo's convertibles...

So many different visions, all with spectacular results. But I still maintain that my lowly, mostly-stock-but-making-progress 88 5.0 base Bird is the single most important car on the planet. At least to me it is...

That's the point Carm ;) Maybe we should do a "before and after" thread of our own cars. Show your car when you first got it, how tore up you had to go through to fix the rust, and then a now shot (except like me your now shot is probably missing parts :hick: ). If I ever posted pics of Layla as the 3-color wonder bomb with no trim, no interior, exhaust dragging, etc, I think people would flip!

Lesse now, the T-Bird is sitting on jack stands and has got a partly blue interior (still didn't do the carpet, headliner, dash or doors, so they're still red), no hood, no wheels, no lights, no quarter windows, no brakes (still waiting for the Cobra M/C), the entire left side of the car is in primer, as are the TC header panel and right fender, no rear bumper cover, the front bumper cover looks a mess with most of the paint sanded off...

Yeah, it's a mess right now. I haven't worked on it in a few days (been sick, cold damp garage would likely give me pneumonia), but it's getting there. Still, when I think back to when the car looked like this (this is literally a "Before", as in "Before I bought it"):

...I get filled with hope that it'll look better when it's finished, yet at the same time, I get sad that I ever started to begin with. I mean, the TC header panel, hood, wheels, etc will be an improvement, and those eleventy-billion dings and nicks all over it had to be fixed, and that white paint was getting in really bad shape, but still...

Y'all don't even wanna see how tore up my piece of..I mean my Tbird is right now....interior is all in pieces, fire damage to the underside, soot all over the pass. side, mis-aligned hood, header, and bumper (mostly) not my fault...but thanks to some help from a few members here, it's all gonna be good VERY soon, and it'll roll with HO power.

On a completely unrelated note, the car doesn't run yet, but I made good and  sure I got a good horn button on ebay last week! :hick:

Just about when I'm ready to post here, and tell you guys to bring a truck and trailer, and about a grand of cash for my 3 cars worth' of Tbird , I look at some of the really nice Birds and Cats here, and make a new promise to myself that it WILL run again this summer, or else...
Thanks guys, for keepin' me addicted

If I'm 100% honest though, there is ONE car. Just ONE fox bird/cat that steels my heart, rushe my blood, and makes me want to keep these cars forever. I have NO idea whose car it is, and only an inkling of the story behind it, and only 1 picture. Here it is...

I definately like those wheels. Love to know what they are. And if they're still in production.
