Oh,by the way,I have thought about a 5 speed,but I really like an automatic.Just for the convenience of driving.I know that they use up some horsepower,and there's no TV cable to mess you up,but the AOD has really been a good tranny for me.It was the cable that sucked this time.The tranny just suffered for it.

5-Speed swap is the answer to all AOD questions.

Until you break a clutch cable... Luckily mine let go in front of the house.

yup.

@kingcars,

OF COURSE im gonna open 'er up from time to time :evilgrin:
but for everyday commuting, i dont need speed all the time. im not that kind of driver. i like to cruise leisurely. but i want it to be there so whenever i need/want it, i can whip it out.

i also wonder if i got in the habit of driving it harder if i might accidentally lose track of my speed frequently and risk a ticket. NO WAY. not an option, so thats a big factor too.

Hah, I rarely do more than 5 over the speed limit.  It's just the time I take to get to that speed that varies :evilgrin: .

The reason I try to stick to 5 over is because I can feel safe that a cop wont pull me since I'm normally in the slow lane getting passed.  I've had several occasions of cops driving up behind me without me realizing it for a minute and then they just leisurely drive on by.

UPDATE>>>>>>> My friend and I got the tranny swapped,installed the TV cable and adjusted it.I called a tranny shop,and he said to have someone hold the gas pedal all the way down,and adjust the TV cable "as tight as a banjo string",so,that's what I did.I took the car for a test drive and it seems strong,and everything worked as it should.The throttle response is a lot better for some reason.Perhaps it's the TV cable adjustment.I didn't get to drive but a couple of miles due to time and other things going on.Now you know......the rest...of the story.

Actually,we started at 11:30 this morning and finished around 4:00 this evening.We took about a half an hour break in there as well.So,about 4 hours out on the driveway.Everything went really good.I swapped my valvebody into the "new" tranny while we had the tranny out.No better time..I knew it was good.I'm glad it's over,though.
