elusive t/s flasher January 29, 2007, 11:35:35 AM I need to find the t/s flasher on my '96 T-Bird. The repair manual says it is on the right side of the steering column attached to a clip which is attached to some sort of bracket. I can't seem to find anything in that location. However it looks like there is some sort of circular bracket further up into the dash, but I don't think I can access this without removing some ducting. Would they have actually placed this flasher in such a hard to access place? Any reply will be greatly appreciated!! Quote Selected
elusive t/s flasher Reply #1 – January 29, 2007, 11:56:23 AM I can't help you with the flasher, but I would like to troubleshoot something.I assume you're having a problem with the turn signals. Are you sure it's the flasher unit? The MFS (multi-function switch) in the MN12 cars is very trouble-pr0ne. The contacts inside the switch get corrosion, leading to poor conductive qualities and making the turn signals sporadic or totally dead.I had this exact issue with my '96 Cougar when it had only 48k miles. I took apart the switch and cleaned/greased the contacts - no problems since then.Just a thought... Quote Selected
elusive t/s flasher Reply #2 – January 30, 2007, 01:46:15 AM Your flasher TS will surely not placed where You need to disassemble the entire car:D , But I don't know the '96 bird/cougars...Maybe on My '85 Bird one of the two TS (one for the turn and other for the four way flasher), one of these TS is connected UNDER the fuse panel, and difficult to replace another when the old is removed...Maybe this the same thing???...Sometimes Ford have a great ideas:beatyoass: Regards,Dom. elusive t/s flasher Reply #3 – January 30, 2007, 09:16:44 AM The turn signal flasher in an MN12 does not look like a traditional flasher. It's square, like a relay, but only has three terminals (instead of the four or five a relay has). If your turn signals or hazard flashers work at all, you can try following your ears to it. And yes, it is well hidden in MN12's Quote Selected
