5.0L HO conversion Help July 12, 2006, 12:21:02 PM Hello I just recently put an 5.0L HO out of a mustang in my car. The motor was surpose to be a 93 but I think it is a 94 or they put a couple 94 parts on it. The intake is curved at the throttle body end and the distributor was different. I was told that i could use the distributor off my old non HO 5.0L. Now I was just wondering about how iam going to hook up my throttle and transmission linkage to the throttlebody. I was also wondering if mustang headers will fit on my cougar. I want the long ones not shorty. Which header would you recommend. O ya my car is an 88 mercury cougar that came with a non 5.0L. Any info would be grealty appreciated. Thanks.Reg Quote Selected
5.0L HO conversion Help Reply #1 – July 12, 2006, 12:47:40 PM your casting numbers tell the tale but get the vin off the doner. Most of your castings are gonna have the letter "F" at the begining with a 2, 3 or 4 to follow . meaning,,92-94. some parts can or were carried over from previous years so you may find some parts that start with an "E" meaning the years in the 80's.Id go back to the JY and get the linkages / cables required for that motor and adapt them unless your existing throttle/TV cables are similar. If they are, then adapt your existing cables to the TB. Its going to be your chance to do a write up on how the rest of us can do this swap. Quote Selected

5.0L HO conversion Help Reply #5 – July 16, 2006, 01:16:13 PM The throttle body on the 94-95 Mustang has a different linkage and different mount holes as well. It is specific to the curved type upper manifold. Quote Selected
