slamming an 87 thunderbird Reply #1 – June 28, 2006, 12:55:40 AM Depends on how you lower it.You can go with springs. This will limit how low you can go by what springs you buy. They can drop from 1/2" to 2". But when you get realy low closer to 1" you run into rubbing issues with the outer lip on the fender and the tire. Easy fix for that is gettting Mstang control arms. You can also go with an air ride setup. The Lincoln Mark VII has a set that will swap in but then you have a problem with the front control arms not having the same ball joint. Which means you have to use the Lincoln front spindles, rotors, calipers,..... And now you have half the 5 lug swap done also. And you will have to use the rear control arms also. Not sure if there is a difference in length on those or not.You may want to look for air ride components for the Mustang. I know there is a company that makes a front strut/air bag setup.Another problem you get into when you drop it low is drive shaft angle. I know the Lincoln Marks have a double cardigan universal joint at the rear axle. Quote Selected
