swaybar size

hey all i was wondering how to figure out what size the swaybar was i went to the parts store the other day to get new swaybar bushings since mine are about shoot and the guy said there were four or so diffrent size bars this is for my 83 cougar thanks to all

ok for some reason some thought it was a good idea to post neg about how long my sig was in my post when it was within the letter amount so ill ask whats your problem :flip: :flip: :flip:

Measuring is probably the easiest way ;)

If you don't have a set of measuring calipers, try large open-end wrenches if you have them and see which one fits around the sway bar.  An adjustable works too, and then you can just measure the opening.

You can try to just eyeball it with a ruler too.

One other way is to take a piece of string and wrap it around the sway bar and get the circumference.  Lay that out on a ruler to get the dimension.  Then divide this number by 3.14159 to get the diameter.

I had to use a crescent wrench and a tape measure to measure a bar at a wrecking yard once because the biggest wrench I carried that day was a 15/16". I call it my poor man's caliper, heheh...
