door interchange for 1987 and 88's May 21, 2006, 08:14:00 PM i'm sure this have been covered prior to my joining the board but a buddy has an 88 TC that needs doors badly. The rust belt has taken their toll on the door bottoms where it is extremely difficult to reapir properly. Do all birds of that era use the same door? Can we use LX doors with keyless entry slots or are TC doors different? This may be a ridiculously simple question for you guys in the know, but for a couple of duffers, we appreciate the help. door interchange for 1987 and 88's Reply #2 – May 21, 2006, 08:31:34 PM Nope. 83-86 have the same doors, 87-88 have the same doors. 83-86 won't line up on a 87/88 and 87/88's won't line up on a 83-86. All doors (whether TC, LX, whatever) are identical. Quote Selected

door interchange for 1987 and 88's Reply #9 – May 21, 2006, 10:35:57 PM 1987-88 have flush glass, revised window trim, different dew wipes/weatherstripping, and a smooth transition to the revised molding. They are different in almost every way from 1983-86 doors. However, they will physically fit. They just will not be correct. Is it better to have correct? What do you think? Quote Selected

door interchange for 1987 and 88's Reply #12 – May 24, 2006, 04:33:17 PM thanks for the info, it'll make finding replacements much much easier. Most all of the Ohio doors for sale around here are crusty around the bottom from winter salt. My buddies are good at the pinch seam but rusted out along the flat part where it transitions to the door panel, making for what I think is a difficult repair and then it seems to return. Would rather find rust free doors and change out the hardware. That way it should last for a long while since the car wont see winters again. thanks for the help everybody! Quote Selected
