Ok, so the 351W took delivery the other day.  Schwing...  Its at my house and now its time to figure out what I'm gonna do with this thing.  I actually pulled it out of another Turbo Coupe, which had a whopper-jawed frame because of the torque, so some subframes are in the making...  The engine is originally from a '74 or '76 Econoline, which I think ran about 200 horses with exhaust manifolds and a 2bbl carb.  So I think a cam, a 4bbl, some headers, and GT-40 heads will liven this thing up to around 300hp with a rebuild, wouldn't you?  What would you guys do with this thing?

I'd tear it down, have the block cleaned, bored .030 and decked.  Recondition the rods, new forged pistons, crank checked and possibly polished and have it all balanced.  Throw some new bearings, rings, oil pump and gaskets on.  Find some decent flowing heads (AFR's if you have the $$), big cam, roller rockers, 100 shot, Trick Flow intake(s) and...

wire up a megasquirt :D

JY gt40's, used aluminum dual plane intake & 650 carb, mustang shortys, maybe shave the heads for a bit more compresion, and a new oil pump wouldnt hurt.

Thats the plan for my econoline 351W :D

Only the '93 Cobra Stangs, the '93-'95 Lightning F150, and some of the earlier Explorers. Later Exploders have the GT40P heads which can cause header/plug clearance issues with some headers. Of course there is $$$ GT40P headers avaliable...

I had a set from a '88 Stang someone had installed(along with GT40 intake and a bunch of other goodies)... Sold em for $300 which is about the going rate for a good used set(assuming they know what they have).

I think I'll just go with some new heads, and maybe a RPM performer intake.  That should open up the airflow a 'lil...

That 351 doesnt have *that* much torque
It's Gumby's fault.

Even a well built 351w shouldn't twist the front frame, sound like your donor car was wrecked a bit, you wouldn't believe how weak they are in the front...

Most light weight rear ended V8 cars will just spin the tires, unless they have slicks on. I kinda have my doubts the engine's power alone bent the front, but it may have.
