Tranny leak

I have an 86 5.0/AOD bird, and I can't park it on concrete because when I do a puddle of ATF develops underneath. I've serviced the trans (filter and gasket). Are there any common areas these trannys develop leaks? This is my first fox body bird, and AOD, so I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the cooler fittings on the drivers side of the rad and passenger side of the tranny, Also inspect them for cracks or rust, mine rusted through resulting in a little leak...

Another thing you can do is take it for a drive and when you bring it home park in on a pair of ramps with cardboard underneath, then you can crawl under and see exactly where its leaking from

My cooler lines are pretty rusty but I didn't think about them because I figured ATF would spray from them with the motor running. I guess I'm going to have to degrease it all again and start from scratch.

i have a simmular issue right now but i found a few bolts on the pan will never tighten up. so i ended up ordering some tranny pan bolts. im not saying thats the prob for you but give those bolts a once over. also what part under the tranny does the puddle form? side? frount? rear? have you taken a good look at your tailshaft seal? beacuse sometimes the tailshaft seal does leak. but check the tailshaft and the pan bolts.

I think I'm just going to get nuts underneath and do tailshaft seal, speedo sender and dipstick tube orings.

its been my experience that people forget to flatten out the bolt holes on the pan cover. they end up looking like a bevel after tightend a few times and the gasket does not get smooshed against the housing good enough.

the quick clip fittings on the side of the tranny i agree with also.

Another mistake people make with pan gaskets. Do not put RTV on the gasket and immediatly tighten it down. Put the RTV on the gasket and just snug the bolts down buy holding the socket in your hand and turning it. Let it set for 15 minutes then torque them.
