VIN search

I'm trying to locate the owner of an 'orphaned' 86 TC through the VIN #. If anyone has any suggestions, please contact me. If I can’t solve this I’m afraid the car will just end up in the crusher….

I don't know if it the same there but here you would just go to the DMV with the tag number, or the VIN, and for a small fee of $10 they'll look up who owns the vehicle for you.

yeah havent you seen the new gone in 60 seconds? thats how they find all the cars lol. im not sure if its only 10bux now tho,

Sure...as soon as I post this question I found a PA DMV form available (which must be notarized and mailed in) and a minimum $5 charge for each record requested. Not as easy as typing in a VIN # but at least there is a way….

$7 here to do a vin search, get owners last registered address, Then you gotta send notarised letter via courier to address stating you will be taking over ownership of vehicle along with some legal type papers. If the registered owner doesnt sign for the package it is returned to you and you take that in to the DMV along with proof that you have listed it in a newspaper for a week/month or something like that. If nobody comes foreward then you begin the steps to getting paperwork.

Just a few hoops to jump through, its not hard or expensive just time consuming.

Took me a few months to get things straightened out with my Zephyr and I still have to get it inspected and a new VIN attached. And I bought it from the original owner!

yep, it takes a bit of time, and a few trips to the Secratary of State (DMV for mich) and a couple bucks for the paper work, but it isn't really hard.
