Found a insturment panel, but will it work?

Will a full digital panel (1986) off a v6 work on a v8?

I seem to remember that you can modify the digital tach to work with a 4, 6 or 8 cylinder. Something to do with the "tach strap" terminals in the cluster connector. I seem to remember that if you ground one you get one engine, ground both you get another, or ground none and get yet another, or something like that...

If it's partial digital, it probably doesn't have a tach.

it wont have a tach if it is the base. see?

If its digital,  I think it will have to be recalibrated.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I think that if you ordered the light group or something like that in the LX you got the full digital dash reguardless of engine. I know that I saw an 88 LX V6 in the yard with a full digital dash once. never though to pull it to see if the tach hook up was diferent than the one on my car (5.0).
