VAF mn-12 problem. October 29, 2005, 01:11:16 PM One of my freinds with a 1994 cougar has been having problems with the idle, and slightly worse gas miliage on her car. Seeing that I had three cougars, of course I knew what the problem was. Well I didnt. So we took it to autozone to get the codes pulled. It has a ob-II computer if that matters. Anyways the code it pulled was a problem with the vaf. I take it this is the little I dunno what to call it, thingy that the MAF bolts to? Is there a way to adjust this/ recalibrate it? If I do have to replace it, what should I do, get a new one for $110 or get one out of a junkyard? Any help is appreciated as always. Thanks.its a 4.6 Quote Selected
VAF mn-12 problem. Reply #1 – October 30, 2005, 11:22:51 AM IF you mean MAF, you can try removing the sensor from the housing and cleaning the wires with some alcohol and cotton swab. Fixes most of 'em.. A VAF is Vane Air Flow meter used on the Turbo Coupes. Quote Selected
VAF mn-12 problem. Reply #2 – October 31, 2005, 05:28:50 AM ah I see. I was dead sure the guy at autozone said vaf. Sounds like I just heard him wrong. Alright, that clears up alot of things. Thanks alot. Too bad, cause if they couldnt figure out how to fix it for under $500 they were gonna just give it to me. Quote Selected
