My turn to ask about springs.

In the couple of weeks (maybe less depending on cash flow), i'm going to be putting new shocks and springs in the rear of my T-bird. I'm doing tires all around as well, but that's probably not gonna affect anything i'm asking about. Anywho's i'm just keeping it at the stock ride height and was wondering whether to get standard springs or ones that are varible rate? Napa list's both and i'm somewhat clueless as to which would be better in the long run in regards to handling and longevity.

Also are the Mustang Urethane isolators a direct fit for these cars? IIRC there is a set in the rear and I figure i'll just be replacing those at the same time as everything else. Oh if it help's anything, i'm putting some KYB gas adjust shocks in as replacements. I've heard the a smidge on the rough side but still good on handling.

Mustang Isolators will fit just fine. Are you using Mustang KYB Adjustables or do they my TBird specifics?

Anyhoos, progressive provides a better ride quality than the standard rates while still delivering excellent handling. If it were my car I would get the progressives. IMO, KYB's are stock replacement pieces. If you've got good shocks you won't be able to tell the difference. But bad ones...lol. It's night and day. :)

KYB makes T-bird/Cougar specfic shocks and struts believe it or not. Though they only have the Gas-a-just shocks for the rear, they do sell the struts in the GR-2's and Gas-a-just models.

Yeah, lol. Soon as I hit enter I realized that. I was thinking about the AGX Adjustables not the Gas-A-Just model. My brain is on vacation today.

So, the mustang coil isolators are a yay. How about opinions on the progressive/non-progressive spirngs?

there shorter by about an inch maybe a hair more . i would look into some 4 banger mustang springs with a 1 in spacer in the rear. and as is in the front .

your car leaves hard for those 60fts you posted i had mine pre swap best of 1.65 60 with the 2.3 leaving at 6,000 with no lift like you had amazing.

hmm, maybe ill try that. well wheelies look cool, but a properly setup suspension shouldnt let the car twist like mine does, it works good for now i gues it acts like a buffer for my drivetrain but its not good to waste torque compressing the right rear spring, it should be used to accel the car! mine just jumps and then settles right down, after that split second leep its all boring 14 sec car lol.

my friend used them, he has to use a huge rear spacer, and cut the front springs a bit to get the car to sit level

the rear sat way too low, and the nose was too high
