F%#@!*G dealership! September 26, 2005, 01:18:13 PM Took my Grand Prix in before the warranty expired. I needed to get a couple of things fixed.-check engine light is on-rear window doesn't work-powerstering whines in morning when cold-exhaust has leak somewhere-state inspection is due.The guy called me an hour ago. He says it failed inspection (he wanted $59.95 pass or fail HAHAH talked my way out of that one ) because of the check engine light. I was like wtf I wanted you to do the inspection last when all the warranty repairs were done. He says the light is from a misfire and needs to do wires and fuel injection cleaning for get this...$325... Than he wants $580 to fix the back window motor not under extended warranty. Than he wants $970 + labor to replace an exhaust pipe. The rack and pinion is under warranty so I have to pay $50 deductable and $59.95 alignment cost.So the hell with it, I ordered a SLP stainless catback system from summit for $450, I'll get a window motor from the junk yard $50?, and fix the check engine light myself... wires $50... They tried to bang me for like $2000 are they freaking crazy!!! They are getting about $180 out of me for the rack, deductable, and some diagnostic bull $hit fee.. so looks like I'll be around $750 for everything... much better than $2k plus I get a nice cat-back rather than gay stock exhaust... I used to work in a GM warehouse, they are marked up like you wouldn't beleive the dealerships make all thier money on parts. I once had to get my wifes car fixed. and I walked in with the dealers shipping reciept and showed them what they paid, and compared it to what they were charging me (300 bucks for a fuel pump assembly, they were charging 750), they wouldn't lower thier price, so my brother-in-law got one from a cousin that works at a place that makes after market pumps, cost 100 bucks.
