Royce?

Maybe I've missed it but has anyone heard from Royce?  He lives in texas but I can't remember where.  I don't think its close to the ocean, hopefully.

I just gave him a call, he's doing fine. He left Texas to stay with an aunt in Louisiana. Besides for no power and the wind, it sounds like everything is ok.

Howdy!

Yep, I'm currently an "evacuee."

My home is in Baytown (about 30 miles East of Houston.) When Rita was still on its way, and at Cat 5 strength, it was predicted to hit much farther West that it actually did...which would have put me and my family on the "dirty" side of the storm with the strongest winds and storm surge. If any of you have been watching CNN or Fox News, you may have seen all the traffic jams on Hwy 146? That was the evacuation route for all of Galveston island...and my neighborhood is right on Hwy 146, though fortunately for me I am about 40 miles North of Galveston, and when we finally left, we did not have to stay on 146 for long at all (about 1 mile) until we got onto I-10 and headed East to Louissiana. Most People leaving the coastal areas in TX went north...we went East because of having relatives to stay with there...
Everything would have been great for us, except that the storm turned North so soon, so we ended up having lots of wind and rain where we were (just north a Lafayette). Lost power Saturday morning...have been hot and sticky since then, but we just left there and are going to be staying the night with a cousin here in Lafayette...They have power ( and A/C !!! ).  I think we (me, my mom, my sister, and cat and dog) are going to try to make it home tomorrow, though that might be difficult...lots of problems and damage along the I-10 corridor between here and home (Lake Charles, Port Arthur, etc.) I know one major bridge in Lake Charles is out of commission right now. On top of that, I have word from my neighbors back home that we still do not have power in my neighborhood, and also that Baytown's water is not good to drink right now because our water treatment plant was struck by lightning and caught on fire during the storm!

O.K. - sorry this is so long...basically I am fine, and from what I hear, my house suffered no major damage, so hopefully Roxanne and Xena will be waiting for me in the garage!

Thanks for worrying about me...I'm good!

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
