80's Crown Vic w/351?

I recently came across an early 80's model LTD Crown Vic with a 351 under the hood (it was the original motor I am sure).  I was unaware this option even existed in the 80's.  Anyone know any specifics...is this a police interceptor or what?

They could be had that way.  My Dad had a LTD landau with a 351.  I think it was sometime in the mid 80's when the only way to get the 351 was via a fleet purchase, but in the early 80's it was just check the order box.

It was available up until 87 or 88, maybe later in squad cars. These are a good source for a motor.  4 BBL carb and Hight Output, no roller cam though.  Nothing the aftermarket can't fix.

I've seen a bunch of 351 Crown Vics in the paper.

I've seen some with the venturi carbs.  I hear it was a rather rare option.

you could get a 351 as an option in any crownvic as far as I know. The jy around here have at least 5 to 10 351 crow vics here.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

For some reason I just figured most of them came with 302's.

The '84 shop manual says:
"The 5.8L W HO engine is available for 50 States-Police, and Police and trailer towing packages in Canada."

These cars came with A Motorcraft Model 7200 VV (variable venturi) feedback carburetor.
