88 TC rides like a lumber wagon with soft ride selected?

Suddenly a couple of weeks ago the ride selector quite working on our white 88 TC.
The ride is very harsh, and when stopped quickly the front end stays down for a few seconds before returning to its normal ride height.
Any ideas what might be causing this to suddenly happen with no warning?

I went all through the url from NATO & found very limited info on suspension…….nothing that mentioned any thing about the struts sticking down momentarily at sudden stops.
Anyone else on here ever have this problem with front struts on your Turbo Coupe?

We ended up purchasing a set of Gabriel shocks & struts.
Since this is basically a cruiser & we aren't really looking for a lot of performance out of the car I hope they will do the job.
We are headed to the 50th state on Friday so I won't be able to get them installed until we get back the end of the month. I'll let you know what I think after driving them a while.

Are there any tricks to installing the struts without having to go get it aligned by one of the extortioner shops who do that kind of work in our area?

Not really...if you take the strut off and out, you'll want an alignment..you can set up strings and such and get it pretty close if you have a level floor, but if it's any kind of driver car, take it to a shop with the laser machine. ;)

There was a recent thread over at NATO regarding sticking struts and cleaning out the gum from the actuators.  Not too difficult, it sounds like. Sound familiar?

Thanks,
I just finished reading that thread on NATO & it sounded too familiar!
I already have the struts to replace the PRCs, but once the old ones are off the car I will try that cleaning trick.

The only real trouble to replacing the front struts, in my experience, is breaking loose the two bottom attachment bolts. All the ones that I have removed have been super tight. I had to use a breaker bar with a 3 ft piece of pipe over it to get them to break loose.

Can any of you tell me where the PRC control box is located.
I have looked behind the plates in the trunk & don't see anything that looks like what I think it should look like???

It's in the trunk behind the rear seat (may be up under the package tray).  Silver box with "ride control" printed at the connector end.  Should be close to the ABS computer. :)
