My 87 Thunderbird project-Dial up waring November 20, 2005, 08:50:08 PM The first 2 pics are how my beloved Bird looked 5 years ago.The rest are how it looked 2 weeks ago when I first got it back and the last few are how it looks now.The reason it looks so bad in the last ones is because I am bringing her back to life. As some of you have read in my other thread I am putting in a mustang dash, which is pretty easy, just alot of wiring.I have a turbo coupe nose going on it along with a 5-lug swap.I would like to do a tubular k-member also but I doubt if money will allow that. The car has see low, low 12s with a Vortech SC.I am going turbo so hopefully it will see even lower times then that. But for now its just getting a warmed over 5.0.I am also tieing the frame rails together and welding up the TQ boxes.Might even sump the gas tank and run a killer fuel system in it, better overkill then underkill.Actually the 1st and last pic are how it looked, I dont know why it came out like that. My 87 Thunderbird project-Dial up waring Reply #3 – November 21, 2005, 04:19:30 PM Thatnks for the support guys.Yeah it is amazing on how many holes are through out the engine compartment.I will be concentrating on getting the engine bay painted up this week-end and hopefully will have the frame connectors welded in.Going to cut the floor and tie them in right while everything is out. The dash is going to be on hold for a few weeks though, I want to get the other things fixed first.I need to make it a roller again here soon.My girl isnt to happy with it sitting in the front driveway all tore apart, lol. My 87 Thunderbird project-Dial up waring Reply #5 – November 21, 2005, 10:12:21 PM I would like to put in a tubular k-member but I doubt if funds will allow that anytime soon.I am more then likely going to get a set of mounts off of ChuckW for now and then later on put the tubular k-member in it. My 87 Thunderbird project-Dial up waring Reply #6 – November 25, 2005, 10:28:20 PM Painted the engine compartment.I Epoxy primered it first and then painted it gloss black.I wanted to paint it silver again but funds are low now and the paint I used was free.So I figured gloss black would look good.Still alot of work ahead of me but I am doing this only when I have spare time and outside.Thats the only thing I like about being here in FL, lol.
