At the junkyard on New Years Day

I went to my local pick and pull this morning looking for a Fox (getting hard) to find a tilt steering column. I found one but it didn't have it. But I came across a 67 complete T-bird going to the crusher. The counter person said I was the 8th person who offered to buy it. the answer was no. I have interior shots and other pics but they don't want upload.

That's a shame on the 67. I saw a similar 69, with the suicide 4-doors, mint interior at the junk yard. They did say I could buy it for $1500, but I passed. It's gone now, hopefully somebody bought it whole.

It's a shame that some asshat will take a couple hundred bucks to doom a classic to certain death, when they could have a little patience and list it on CL and sell it to someone who will at least do something with it...and maybe even pay a little more.
It's a goded shame.

Ugh I hate that, I'm so blessed I was able to get my '70 Satellite before it hit "NO YOU CANT BUY IT" stage.
The window for purchasing whole vehicles is so tiny for these things, Especially at Pick N Pull~Next time demand an owner or Manager~Thats how I got mine.
I call BS that they couldnt sell it, It still has the wheels on and I doubt they had drained the fluids or gone through the "Full staging process". I wouldnt be surprised if they were just being lazy and not wanting to do paperwork or something.
Thanks for the pics though, Such a sad fate for a solid looking car.

Sad Indeed....Though Junkyards in some states can't sell you a car outta their yard, it actually is against the law, and they can be fined a shagton of money if they do sell one to the public, and then the law finds out. Check out the laws in your area first, then you will know if the JY owner is FOS or not when he says that he can't sell it to you.

I've saved a helluva lot of classic cars so far in my life, and always end up seeing one at the yard that I wanna save everytime I go, but even I know that you can't save them all... RIP

Bullshiznit legislation and silly laws is the main reason. I mean really....is the selling of a handful of classic, salvageable cars brought to a junkyard every year to a collector/connoisseur going to destroy the world or our environment???

No, of course not.  It makes one wonder why the legislatures would be getting between someone willing to sell something and someone willing to buy something, by sticking their noses into the transaction with silly regulations.

Do you know if they were going to sell parts off it or if it was just waiting to be crushed? Nothing for nothing also, that car is a 69. 68 and 69 had the frt corner lights and 67 was the only year of that 3 year style that didn't. They changed the grilles every year and other small trim pieces but were basically the same car. These were notorious for bad frames so maybe that is its issue. I know of one local here that looks worse off than that one(complete with frame issues) that the guy needs parts for.

This car is in Baltimore ,Md at Crazy Rays. It is a local chain with five spots and they used to sell complete cars but with the price of metal they will pay no more than $400 bucks for are car ................No matter what it is.

Local PNP would only give like $250 for a car that size up here, Pretty lame.
I found out one of their major sources for vehicles is the local "Abandoned Vehicle Auctions" Tow comapnies do.

Go in and make a serious offer As-Is, Self removed with no Warranty or Liability from them and see how "Crazy" they might act then. Heck I'd pay 1k even if I could never get a title for it. And I hate Beige/Light yellow cars. Haha.

Thought this was interesting...Found an old '79 T-Bird Town Landau in the yard last week. Never seen one with the "Town Landau" option package before this, only the Diamond Jubilee package. It was somewhat picked over already, so I wasn't looking to buy it, but was cool to check out none the less. This junkyard was deep in the heart of South Carolina.
