2013 gt 500 Reply #15 – November 15, 2011, 08:10:26 PM Well, effalcon, given all the other cool cars you guys get down under, not just from Ford but GM too, surely you'll oblige us the GT500 Quote Selected
2013 gt 500 Reply #16 – November 15, 2011, 08:13:11 PM The car's got 3.31 gears. Apparently they tried something like 35 different ratios before deciding that 3.31's were best. Probably would be impossible to launch with any higher ratios... Quote Selected

Would it look as cool? Doubt it. Would it say Shelby in big gaudy letter on the decklid? Nahh.Face it, I'm no lover of Chevy stuff, but they can make serious power from an engine that weighs less, has less bulk (the mod engine looks like a house FFS!).....The coyote is a great powerplant though, but I don't have wet dreams about it either.Gas mileage? Where did i say anything about that...?As far as Ford smackin' the shiznit of Chevy...I remember only a few years ago when Camaros were batting around Stangs like hell wouldn't have it. Or maybe I live in a bubble...My opinion: The previous GT500s look like a riced out Stang with an ed high markup from the dealers...I expect no changes in the next batch... :-/ Quote Selected

Or maybe I live in a bubble... I said it, didn't say you did.. it's just a fact that you didn't state in your statement.. the way i see it, i can spend 1/5 of the cost of a new mustang (or GT500), build my own motor to produce more power and spend the other 4/5 on gas in an OHV motor in an older car i would enjoy owning and driving MUCH more than the new .. can you tell i don't like new cars? and that was then, this is now.. the cramaro/mustang battle has been going on since the 60's.. they both shared the lead in the 'who's better' fight to the top and ford definitely had chevy pinned to the floor in a choke hold all through the 80's and early 90's.. of course chevy was going to fight back and take the lead again, that's how it works.. they're basically pushing each other to improve each other's products.. the funny part of all this is.. 90% of the time, dodge is just sitting back, watching the fight, without a worthy contender.. it makes me giggle :) Quote Selected
2013 gt 500 Reply #19 – November 16, 2011, 01:29:35 AM Quote from: jpc647;373046Except what everyone is missing, Chevy designs their own pony car. Mustang has to sub it out to shelby to get a mean machine. What does that say about Ford's Engineering team?Still a mean car, but food for though. Hahaha. FYI, Chevy certainly has their own specialty team designing their "performance cars" just as Ford does. Although they are still done in house, so to speak within the company. Make no mistake, the GT500 is not subbed out to Shelby. The GT500 is, and has been built right on the same line all of the other mustangs are and Ford is certainly capable on their own. Shelby is just a marketing name sake. (excluding his 350 nonsense). Someone thought if he rubbed his old man balls all over the car they would sell more. I doubt it because the car speaks for itself. Either way sir, I'll stick with the non welfare company. A company that steals money from taxpayers. What does that say about GM? Food for thought. Quote Selected

2013 gt 500 Reply #22 – November 16, 2011, 06:36:09 PM Actually Ford builds the GT500's now, they started a couple model years ago. Shelby just puts his name on them. Quote Selected

2013 gt 500 Reply #24 – November 21, 2011, 12:15:12 PM You know looking at this and other 2013 Mustang pictures I noticed a difference from past years. The front of the hood no longer cover the top of the grill surround. Instead the hood stops short and the grill comes up into the front of the hood. It almost looks like the front is frowning. It still looks good but I think the 2005-09 and 2010-2012 front looks better.See here: http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/2013/ Quote Selected
2013 gt 500 Reply #25 – November 21, 2011, 02:49:20 PM The 05-09's were the best looking of the S197 'stangs, IMO. I never could get used to the ass end on the '10+ cars, but they are growing on me. I just wish my '07 GT had the 5.0! (Although the 4.6 3v does move out pretty good.) Quote Selected
