Got me a new cat

What, you were expecting a Cougar or something? Meet Blaze, a purebred Himalayan with the rare "Flaming Star" (hence the name "Blaze") coloring. He was just delivered today, his birthday was April 8th. This is a cat that would normally cost over $700 (if you can imagine somebody actually paying for a cat you can't drive) - he was a gift in exchange for some computer work. No papers, but I have no intention of breeding him anyway.

Needless to say, I'm starting to feel like the crazy cat lady on the Simpsons. Blaze makes cat #3 (he joins Igor and Murphy). I just can't wait 'til I move to the country eventually so I can start adding dogs to the family herd...

Here is Blaze (in retrospect I prolly should've wiped the eye boogers away before taking the pics):

I love Himalayans. I've had two. First was a white one with blue eyes that I got when I used to go door to door selling local newspaper subscriptions. The lady begged me to take the poor thing, because her kids would carry him around by the neck. He had lost all the fur around his neck from the kids doing that. I smuggled him home in my work bag. He eventually got run over or something, because we found him on the side of the road one morning. (we used to let our cats outdoors.. but not anymore) Second one was a pure black one with gold eyes, and I got him around (I think) the 1989/90 holiday season.. and he's still around today.. although he's probably on his way out. Cries a lot from arthritis or something.. but he's "my" cat.. and more loyal to me than some dogs are to their owners. Will always come when I call him, if he hears me. It's going to be hard as hell to let him go, but I'll have to put him down when I think he's suffering too much. He's suffering a little bit now, but is otherwise pretty lively 90-95% of the time. (still can run, still can jump up on our bed, etc.) Not normal for a cat to last something like 15 years.

Trivia: "Himalayans" are not considered an official breed.. they're a cross between Siamese and another breed. (Persian, or something.. I forget)

I've done a bit of reading, and apparently the Himalayan is a result of breeding a Siamese and a Persian. The cat is supposed to have the physical traits of a Persian with the colorings of a siamese. From what I've read, the Himalayan is not considered a breed, but it can be considered a purebred persian (the website I read said that Himalayan is considered an acceptable color deviation of the persian breed). Not that it matters because I don't have any papers anyway. I only hope this poor bugger's face doesn't end up looking inside out like a lot of persians I've seen...

Here's the website I red about them:

Nice cat, only with a red  stripes and 18 inch wheels would look awesome. Nice spoiler too.....

Naaaa, its only a joke. I dont like the cats very much, but your pet looks very pretty. I had a cat some years ago, but we got a bird too, and the fights were the bread of every day, and the bird went out (maybe to the cat stomach...never knows....). And that was the end of my last cat....

The ancient Egyptians once revered cats as gods.

Cats have never forgotten this.
