Installing BIG CAMS

Well i just finished installing a E303 in one of my 347 stroker motors. And as you can see some adjustments are Necessary to the TPS. So ovaling out the mounting holes are necessary for proper adjustment.

Before MOD

After MOD

Here is the final adjustment and right on the MONEY. Just wanted to pass this on as a good way to dial in some of the sensors. Thanks

I had to do that on my car also.  Was 1.2 before and .98 after.  I got a sensor and wiring plug from the yard and made a connector harness to read the values, so I wouldnt have to pierce the wires.  My probes werent small enough to get into the connector to read either.

The TPS works fine on a  range of .60-.99V. It has a wide range of movement so as long as you're below .99V your golden. Mine is at .89 and works fine.

A lot of people spend endless time trying to get the number to .95. As you so correctly point out its not that critical. I look at other sites and laugh at that. Under 1 volt and as you state you are GOLDEN. The STANG RUNS GREAT.

Totally correct and i agree 100%  Piercing the wires is a NO NO. Normally i use the break out box but this car has a test point i installed to do it under the hood for the photo. I see ENDLESS problems with pierced wires. And those crimp connectors are a NIGHT MARE. They are a mechanics NIGHTMARE. Thanks guys.

Tom, on a side note, how close were the specs on that alphabet cam when you dialed it in with the wheel?

I advanced it 4* To obtain I @.050 O* BTC and 40* ABC // E @ .050 40* BBC O* BTC.  But i had to advance it 4*  The cam was not advanced like the aftermarket ones. I found this a little shocking to tell you the truth. Its a good street cam with lots of POWER. I am very pleased with it.  Normally i always advance a few degrease to compensate for Timing chain stretch. Most of the aftermarket cams are advanced a few degrease for this. Thanks for asking. Do you have an alphabet cam in your car? I like them and they run really good. I also like the LC at 110 it makes for a nice cam with a broad torque band. Its a nice all around cam.

I'm not a fan of the alphabet cams due to their inconsistency between events on the same shaft, BUT I have a "B" cam that I may try with 1.7s @ +4* just for Ss and Gs in the HO in the Cougar. I took this cam in place of labour when a "buddy" couldn't come up with enough coin for some work I did on his ride.
