Gauge cluster, Mech or Elec? April 11, 2011, 08:29:27 PM I am redoing the gauge cluster on my 88TC and cant decide exactly how to do it. I am getting all Phantom gauges, and I am tryin to keep it as cheap as possible. I am going to use the original cluster but redo the face. I am going to overlay it with plastic and drill holes for the turn signals and high beam. Then I will re-cut the holes for the gauges with the oil/temp and amp/fuel gauges at a diagonal(2 1/16" gauges). I will be using a 3 3/8" tach/speedo. The easiest thing for the oil and temp should be electrical and hook to the existing sending units correct? While the amp connects to the alternator? I am unsure of how the fuel level needs to connect though. Which ohms do I need? Now the tach...which one is best/easiest to hook up, mech or elec? And the speedo...can I get a mustang cable and run it to the TC 5-speed? Either way I want to keep the pigtail so the dummy lites and other stuff works. Quote Selected
Gauge cluster, Mech or Elec? Reply #1 – April 13, 2011, 08:32:52 PM yeesh, nevermind. Over $500 bucks in gauges. I ordered white faceplates instead AND they have replacement LED bulbs for the cluster. I ordered blue. Quote Selected
