Anybody know any more details about this car and its TRUE condition?  My brother may be interested in making a move on it.

I don't have personal first hand knowledge of the car, but from information I pulled from it being offered on eBay two previous times along with a few e-mail correspondences with two of the four previous owners, here is what I have on it:

Based on the sellers claims in the first eBay auction it appears to have been originally from West Virginia.

"You are bidding on my 1985 Mercury Cougar XR-7 with 9,750 miles. I bought this car from the original owner in September 2005. The odometer is correct; there is only 9700 actual miles on this car. This is a garage-kept vehicle and is owned by a non-smoker."

There were WV inspection stickers showing an inspection in Aug. 1992 and a recorded odometer reading of 6,549 miles.
At the time of the auction (March 2006), the car showed 9,763 miles.
One of the members here, (Black Magic) purchased the car from the seller.

The second time I saw it on eBay was in May 2009. This was when Black Magic was selling it. At that time is was showing 10,002 miles.
It appears that whoever purchased it from Black Magic, now has it for sale again.

The car looks completely correct to me based on the pictures and I see no reason to doubt the sellers claims.
As I implied, if I had the storage space but more importantly, I wasn't afraid of my wife:beatyoass:, I would be hitting the "Buy-It-Now" button myself.

I truly hope that this car finds a proper home.

Yeah thats my old car for sure. It didnt have that fender scratch in it when I sold it, I bet thats from the shipping company. He was too cheap to have it shipped in an inclosed car trailer.

It's as good as advertised. It even had that new car smell when I sold it.

I had some issues with the buyer. He claimed I lied about the condition of the paint. Said he was going to go to a body shop and get an estimate, was a total crock of bs. So from that standpoint I find it funny that now its an "AMAZING FIND" but a year ago I was a "liar". He also didnt pay double what the starting price is.

I just got my black 86 down to AZ from WI. My brother did allot of great upgrades. Ill have some pics posted this weekend.

Yeah that looks like a nice car!  Hope it will last another 20+ years with low miles like that!!  They make awesome new cars, but in my book the old ones got something that the new ones can never have!!
