Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor November 10, 2010, 04:19:32 PM So I'm looking to move the 88 to collector insurance from my ammended Allstate policy. I've gotten quotes from Grundy and JC Taylor for about $180 a year and from Hagerty for about $350 a year. I'd like to go with JC Taylor or Grundy as, well, they are cheaper;). Does anyone have either JC Taylor or Grundy and if so how are they? Quote Selected
Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #1 – November 10, 2010, 04:22:41 PM My agent wrote mine through classic collectors, and it is super cheap(at or just below $100/yr), but I only wanted it written for the bare minimum, and i think I get 5k miles/yr. Quote Selected

Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #3 – November 10, 2010, 05:21:09 PM I had my Mark VII insured through Nationwide (not sure if it's in your area) I paid based on what I told them it was worth. Don't remember exactly what the coverage cost, but it wasn't much at all. Worth looking into if they are in your area. Quote Selected
Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #4 – November 10, 2010, 05:45:43 PM I have my 86 TC insured through Hagerty for $9500 replacement valve and it is only $104 a year. 1988 cars aren't collector cars yet and unless its a turbo car it isn't figured as a special interest car either. I know Grundy will insure all out show cars only, no projects or barn finds, where as in Hargerty will insure your project car. Of course it can't be the DD. Quote Selected
Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #5 – November 10, 2010, 06:12:54 PM So I got a better quote by calling Hagerty. It's $225 a year to insure the 88 for $8000. Not bad for me being 25 years old;) Quote Selected
Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #6 – November 11, 2010, 03:09:42 AM You can try American classic ins. That's who I use. I put a claim in to them when my hood blew onto my roof, and they were great about it. Quote Selected
Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #7 – November 11, 2010, 10:03:38 AM Good info. I've been thinking about going with collectors insurance when I get the 88 back on the road.I still have to look into it a little more though, I think my Geico policy will insure it for what I tell them its worth, so that oughta be cheaper since I'll have 3 cars on the same policy... Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #8 – November 11, 2010, 11:12:01 AM I got a quote from JC Taylor today of $184. I think I'm going to be going with them. A clean driving record helps.Just a FYI: if you are under 25 you're going to have a hell of a time getting collector car insurance. That's why I had to amend my Allstate policy as none of the collector insurance companies would insure me when I was under 25. Quote Selected

Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #11 – November 12, 2010, 08:06:42 PM I've had Grundy on my '88 Turbo Coupe for a couple years,About $120 per year on $5,000 agreed value. They've been nice to deal with Quote Selected
Collector insurance: Hagerty, Grundy, or JC Taylor Reply #12 – November 13, 2010, 01:05:36 PM Grundy quoted me $188. I think my quotes are higher because I'm 25 and I want the agreed value to be higher than what most of you guys have. Basically if something where to happen to my car I want to be able to buy another one and modify it the same way. Quote Selected
