Factory keyless remote with factory keyless pad?

Is there any factory keyless entry remote that can be wired in with the keyless entry pad on our cars? I'd like to add a remote to my Fox to go along with the keyless entry pad but I'm not sure if it can be done or what works with the factory system. I've searched the board but can't find anything.

I tried to chase this down years ago. Basically my understanding was nothing is plug and play. Aftermarket stuff is all over the place, but anything OEM would be a nightmare to wire in there.

Then again it has been a few years, maybe one of these brilliant minds figured it out.

Since the early factory keyless system has it's relays in the module, it's going to be tricky to operate the door locks, trunk release, etc without the use of added relays along with the keyless module... If you dig up EVTMs for your Bird and whatever vehicle the module is from('98-'00 Escorts are some of the more simple units), it should be fairly easy to figure out how to connect it... Remotes for these are same as used on most of the newer Ford/Merc vehicles...

So basically there is no easy way to do this. Nuts.

a similar thread with just as much info as this one.... none, because it is nothing short of rewiring half of your car to work...

I don't know about using a factory system, but the aftermarket ones look to be pretty simple to install. The 85-88 (I haven't researched further back) should just use a ground pulse to trigger the existing relays on both keyless entry and normal power lock cars.

On my old Directed aftermarket remote, I'll just tap into the 2 wires in the kickpanel for lock and unlock, and attach 2 scotch-lok wire taps connected to the corresponding NEGATIVE pulse wires from the remote receiver.

The wire colors are:
 LOCK=Pink/Light Green (-)
 UNLOCK=Pink/Yellow (-)

If you just want a basic keyless remote, they are pretty cheap ~$50.00 and are quite robust. I like Directed, but there are plenty of others.

Caution! Most remote receivers have both a 12v+ and a negative pulse lead, so don't mix them up!

I told you so.

Here's a link to more wire colors and functions available. I'm gonna wire mine to the trunk, dome lights, parking lights, and carpc (if I install a motorcycle battery to run it from during cranking)
