Dum manual tranny question

Im planning on doing a swap for my Cougar from Automatic to manual. I got the list of parts from CoolCats(thanx Eric as usual) but my dumb question is this. What in a manual transmission does your speedo run off? I can change an automatic in my sleep (hello I own Fords) but Ive never done any tinkering with a manual. I drive my daily (2009 Mazdaspeed3 6 speed) but thats all done via the computer. So minus any SA comments Id like to know what Im up against

Same speed sensor as an automatic (but different number of teeth and different gear design, so you still need the one off a 5-speed)
