I'm about to clean out the T-bird fund

I know it might sound like nothing, but I have just over $400 set aside to get the TC road worthy for school. I know it's the wrong thing to do, but HOT ! I don't know if I've ever seen a more beautiful four stringer (or five, for that matter).

(It's a Highland, for what it's worth, not a Highlander)

Thats a sharp looking bass. I don't like the white flames on the fret board though.

I have to agree. I'm quite used to using my guides on the Jazz, so I'd have to relearn where everything is.

It appears to have the guides (dots) along the top of the neck, so I'm good.

I have found a solution! I was going to the used furniture store today to pick up an old dryer to replace the unit that died two years ago on us. As we were waiting for it to warm up (I'm not about to buy a used dryer without seeing if it the heat works first) Ange noticed a vanity off to one side. She asked how much, and they told us $130. It's brand new, and they had just finished puting it together for use in the store washroom, but ended up getting another unit in stead. So they have a new vanity for sale at a used shop. Anyway, we ended up getting that as well, with a porcelain sink thrown in. The only thing it needs is a counter top. The funny thing about it is they told us they bought it at Central Building Supplies. We went there after to price out a counter, and there they have the very vanity set up, with a sticker price of $298! Sweet!

So I started laying on the guilt about this new toy I'm looking at, and she agreed I could get the bass if I contributed $100 of my own money. I'm heading up in the next day or two to test it out.

So that's how to get your toys, I guess. If you want something bad enough, just buy your wife something she's been looking for first. :D

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everybody. Mine was awesome!

It has the classic lines of a Gibson 335, which is my favorite style of guitar. I have a 1972 Hagstrom Viking guitar - it too is based off of the 335.

Good choice!

I would get the car on the road. In the long run you'll probably be happier.

It's not going to be an issue. The car will be on the road regardless. I already have all the parts I need, aside from a windshield, so the remaining $360 is for any surprises I find come inspection time. As I said, I don't have to empty the fund now, so I'll have my TC back, and a new unit to jam with. Supercalifradgalisticexpialidotious!

Sorry, about that. It's St. Patty's (or is that Paddy's? I'm sure I just uttered some Irish slur there. May as well get an Irish curse and say "Up Ulster".) and I just polished off a whole whack of Kilkenny.

Picked it up yesterday, but didn't get home until midnight (then jammed with Led Zeppelin until two). New pictures to come soon.

That inlay on the fretboard is actually mother of pearl. I just thought it was some white resin. Also, the company just went bankrupt in Canada, and the distributor isn't sure if they're still for sale state-side or not. This will probably be the only Thunder Chief (oh, didn't I mention it's called the bloody Thunder Chief?!?!) I'll ever see. This is going to be one ridiculously rare bass. It is a completely different animal to play than my Jazz as well. It's in need of a setup, because the action is set way to high, but that's only a quick rod adjustment away. I will be sending it in to the guitar tech in town for a full setup though. Come to think of it, my Jazz needs a new tone  (it's just starting to crackle) and could use a setup as well. The case has a humidor built in too. Frickin' insane, man.
