Chipped Ring Gear

So I've recently stumbled accross, And got a 31spl 4.10 ring ad pinion out of a 159k 96 Explorer.

I'm doing a complete rebuild of an 8.8 TC Rear, And was hoping to use these in it~
However,
After further inspection, Theres some chipping on some of the very outter edges on the Ring Gear.

Thing is, It's only on the "sides" of the ridges (odd?).
And the Pinion Gear has no warping or chipping.

Can you guys please inspect the below pics, And tell me what you think about still going ahead and using this ring gear?
I dont have the extra cash to spend on a New one, And 8.8 4.10's are hard to come by in the junkyard.

Thanks Much!

It appears to be out of the wear area, as long as it doesn't have cracks that you may not see, Hard to say why there there. I would probably try and set it up and see.
