EFI Harness June 19, 2009, 11:09:33 PM 88 Coug LS 5.0 EFI, Climate Control. How do I get the dang thing free from the firewall?I have the computer unplugged along with its ground lug. It appears to be good and loose on the inside but its pretty darn stuck up top. I have the rubber grommet out and loose but I just can't seem to get it free and I'm afraid to tug to hard.It looks like it splits into two wraped bundles just on the other side of the firewall. Am I missing a connector?-DZ Quote Selected
EFI Harness Reply #1 – June 20, 2009, 12:25:55 AM Looking at the EVTM:There is the fuel pump wire. A T/LG wire to a red 2 terminal connector under the RH side of the dash. There is a BK/Y and a BK/O wire to the EEC power relay. If you have a check engine light there may be a wire for that.Did you take the glove box out so you can see in there? EFI Harness Reply #2 – June 20, 2009, 12:52:01 AM like 30 seconds too late. I found the relay. Thanks. For posterity:Steps to remove harness.1. Disconnect harness from solenoid, emissions switches, salt n pepper shaker connectors (on the back of the intake). Make sure all connectors on the engine side are disconnected.2. Unbolt the ECM and remove the connector.3. Open the glove box, push in the sides and pivot it out of the dash.4. Us a good flashlight and find the relay that is poking out of the insulation on the passenger side wall about 4 inches in and 6 inches up from the glove box opening.5. Push and disconnect the relay.6. Disconnect the circular black 3 pin connector below the ecm.7. Unbolt the ground lug below the ECM.8. loose the large rubber grommet and feed out a couple inches of wire. Wiggle the cable.9. Push the ECM connector all the way up the passenger side and above the top of the fan box.10. Pull it out.11. Drink a beer cause that task sucks alot. Quote Selected
EFI Harness Reply #3 – June 20, 2009, 11:39:05 AM It's easy if you pull the HVAC assembly(how I did mine, but it needed a heater core anyway)... Quote Selected
EFI Harness Reply #4 – June 20, 2009, 12:41:26 PM Now I get to go do the same thing to a junkyard car to get enough wire. Quote Selected
