power seat, only...no power..? March 25, 2009, 03:38:01 PM The sport has the dual power seats, and I'm swapping them out for my Motorsport halo seats, only keeping the pass. side power bracket, as it it worked. So my problem is this, after taking the Sport seat and bracket out because the thing wouldn't go fwd or backward, the Motorsport seat and bracket doesn't move at all, and now, neither does the pass. side. There's a gray connector that was connected to the Sport seat, but the Halo seats don't have that connection on them. I looked in my EVTM, and couldn't find this connector anywhere. Also, someone before me had taken a red jumper wire, and taped it to two places on that gray connector. I have no idea what that's for.I've checked all fuses, but everything is good, and for that matter the seat motors use a circuit breaker. FWIW, the driver side power seta worked fine in my white car. I guess I'll take the Sport seat, put on the other bracket, plug that gray mystery connector back in, and see if it moves like it should. But any ideas on what that connector goes to? I don't have it on the white car.The car also has keyless, moonroof, illuminated entry, and the ECC, as well as premium sound.*scratches head* Quote Selected
power seat, only...no power..? Reply #1 – March 25, 2009, 07:31:38 PM I read the post and it is confussing me,,,does this help? >>see my diy linkhttp://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=16213Your issue of not haveing power delivery to the seat motors should not be that hard to trace as long as you start at the switch connector. I can assume you do have 12v appearing at the switch connector, Correct on the CB providing power to the motors.other than that, The switch is where I would start. The power seat swiches being intermittant can give flakey results and sometimes seem to work ok or not at all.On my 20th, in order to roll the seat back, i have to bump the switch forward , then push the back. If it has a black wire and a white wire it is probable for the seat switch. It's part of keyless entry. Quote Selected
power seat, only...no power..? Reply #3 – March 28, 2009, 03:22:00 AM I'll be a little more specific and concise:The original seat bracket in the Sport would go up and down in the front and back, it just would not go forward or backwards. So I used the power seat bracket out of my white '88, and now neither seat works. But, the bracket (and the seat) from the white car didn't have the grey connector that the Sport seat has. And as softtouch posted, it IS ftied into the keyless circuit.I guess sometime this weekend I'll be seeing if i can move the connector and it's related wiring and components to the bottom of the seat itself that I had in the white car, along with the bracket, so I can use those seats instead of the nasty, filthy, cracked Sport seats.I..ummm...had to FUBAR the original bracket to get it out, as the motherf*cker was stopped right over the back nuts, with absolutely no way to get to the inside one at all. Can you say BFH? lolAnyway, tomorrow I'll post some pics of what I'm working with, as well as some dash stuff. On a related note, I'll try to remember to post pics of my cluster that I had in the white car, after I get the dash and all swapped over. Let's just say that the grass is not always "green" on the other side...Hey Scott, thanks for posting that pic of your evtm in the thread you linked me to...but I'm still lost as to finding that connector in my book. Mine is still out in the shop in the car, or I'd look through it now. I bet in the morning, I'll find something under the keyless entry section about the plug though...i hope.If all else fails, I'll just try to put it all under the Motorsport seat and make the dirty pissant work like it should. I have a goal:Interior swap AND T5 installed by Sunday. The AOD is going out, and I'm not pushing the thing around! :hick: Quote Selected
power seat, only...no power..? Reply #4 – March 28, 2009, 02:21:54 PM The keyless entry switch in the drivers' seat has nothing to do with power seat working. It requires someone sitting on the seat before the automatic door lock feature will work. What year is the Sport? Quote Selected

power seat, only...no power..? Reply #7 – March 28, 2009, 08:14:16 PM Look at the EVTM diagram in the link that jcassity posted. In the first diagram (page 181) connector C136 is in the power circuit from fuse 12 and also in the ground circuit below the control switch. If this is unplugged neither power seat will work. The third diagram (page 183) says this connector is under the drivers' seat.I looked under the seat in my 84 and I only see the 6 pin connector for the seat motors.Maybe it's under the carpet? power seat, only...no power..? Reply #8 – March 28, 2009, 09:43:55 PM I have the connector in the Sport, it just isn't on the seats I want to swap in. It was cold and rainy/snowy today so I didn't get outside to mess with it. I'll try to get pics tomorrow though...EDIT:Looking at Scott's post/link, his EVTM appears to be different from mine...is his for an '87?Mine is an '88, and page 204 in mine has the seat diagrams. But oddly enough, I can't find any reference to the gray connector. Obviously, it's for the ground, and even in the grounds section, I couldn't find it.Would it be C136, in the evtm? Quote Selected
power seats won't move. Reply #9 – March 31, 2009, 04:47:47 AM Well, I discovered (just as i thought, too) that the gray plug I keep mentioning is for the power lumbar.I've got all the setup in the Halo seat (driver side only so far)and STILL no movement of any kind or direction, from either seat. I guess it's test light time...Also, the lumbar doesn't work in either seat. I know the track i put in is good, so in later today, I'll check with a test light to see if the seat switch has power. power seat, only...no power..? Reply #10 – March 31, 2009, 11:33:14 PM see, thats what I would think as well. I took apart one of the seat switchs a long time ago and cleaned the contacts. What a mess both in filth and trying to get it back together.Ill bet your just about on top of the problem. Quote Selected

Reply #11 – April 01, 2009, 02:13:48 AM Well...I uhhhh...kinda don't have a Sport anymore...Came home from work at midnight...firetrucks in my yard, shed burnt down, along with the Sport, my 92 F-150, my tractor that my grandfather left to me, along with pretty much ALL my V8/T5 and gray interior pieces that were gonna go in the Sport. Also lost were all my tools, my cherry picker and engine stand, and god knows what-all else... power seat, only...no power..? Reply #14 – April 01, 2009, 10:34:55 PM I figured it was false, mostly, because I would dig my tools out of the fire, and I doubt the engine jack would die as well. Quote Selected
