Oil idiot light acting...well like an idiot

Well on my 86 5.0 cougar there is a sensor just forward and above from the oil filter on drivers side.  it was leaking just under the nut below the 1 wire connector.  what the sensor is i dunno exactly but i had the guy at the parts house look at it and grab one for me.  I just did an oil/filter change and changed the sensor out.  now every time i fire the car up the idiot light stays on constant lol  what gives?!?

Wrong or bad sensor?

That is the oil light switch.  It's not a sensor or sender.  If he grabbed you one for a gauge instead of a light, it will be the wrong one.
