61 bullet bird - compromised

Anyone else want to boot this guy in the mouth?

Talk about ruining the classic lines of a car with mismatched clutter. So what is it? 61, 62, 63? The guy can't decide which he likes better so he slaps a bit of all three on, then adds an extra piece of trim on the tail for good measure.

I know they're original pieces from other bullet birds, but the execution gives it a Pep-boys feel. I bet this guy's truck is a real looker. (It's Edmonton, you know he's got a full size) Also, good luck selling a rusty (for Alberta) non-running classic for over $1500.

Yea I dunno em that well so I dont know what's wrong and what's right. :hick:  Ill say it looks good to me other than the pieces on the doors. Definitely like you said looks like pep-boys plastic-chrome aisle or jc whitney special or something lol.

Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...

Well, the Bullet-birds had these three or four chrome trim pieces, differing from year to year, on the sides. The ones on the door are from a '63, which has a character line leading back from the front bumper 'framing' them. For '61 and '62 there was no character line, but at the rear had stacked (61) or in-line (62) 'strips' just before the tail light. The 'strips' are from a '61, the nickel-strip is from a '62 (but extended back so far they divide the original trim pieces) and the door trim is sitting up so high to clear the nickel-strip that it throws off the long and streamlined look. Your eye is drawn to that spot on the door, instead of down the length of the car as it's supposed to be.

The Bullet Birds are some of my all-time favourite designs, and it's hard to look at it butchered.

It looks like a 61 that they put the mouldings from all three years on. :wtf:

I like the 61-62s better than the 63s. They look cleaner without the sculpting on the sides.

The fastback concept is awesome! They should've made that.

Nice! That's pretty  close to the one my youngest, Seamus, got from his uncle last Christmas. It's the identical colour to the one you posted, though. The real one is called Tango something.
