1997 Cougar AC/Blower fan not working August 13, 2008, 08:16:14 AM On my 97 Cougar, the AC/Heat blower fan is not working. I pulled the fan and checked it with my jumper pack, its ok. I have a new blower resistor on order, but I don't think that is the problem. I tested the input to the resistor and there is no juice. I looked at wiring diagram in a Haynes manual and it shows an "in-line" 30amp fuse. I checked all my fuses and they are ok. Does the Blower motor have a seperate 30 amp fuse located somewhere under the dash or hood? Quote Selected

There is no special fuse. The 30 amp fuse is fuse # 9 in the fuse panel.See page 218 in the 87 EVTM sticky at the top of this forum.Looks like the page numbering stops at 209. You will have to count your way up from there. Quote Selected

1997 Cougar AC/Blower fan not working Reply #3 – August 14, 2008, 06:27:06 AM Well, I haven't tracked down the problem yet, but there is a separate in line 30 amp fuse for the blower motor. It is located just to the right of the under dash fuse panel. I guess the 1994-1997 Cougars/T-Birds are this way. All earlier models had the fuse in the fuse panel. Its 30 amp with the yellow/grey wire from the ignition and the brown/orange wire to the ac/heat selector switch. The fuse was melted down pretty good. Since my blower motor checked out ok, hopefully the new resistor will fix the problem. thanks for the help. Quote Selected
1997 Cougar AC/Blower fan not working Reply #4 – August 14, 2008, 08:09:32 AM It could be ground side switching. I just went through that same issue with a 95 e-350 van. It has a relay inline. It may very well be the blower resisitor. I did all the normal tests just like you are to no avail. It also would not blow on high even though the motor was good. I changed the resistor and it has been fine ever since. If you can figure out which terminal is the ground terminal and you ground it externally you can test the resistor. How many terminals are there on you resistor block? I will try to help as much as I can. Quote Selected
