Auto Lamp, interesting thing

Its raining now (2am) so i run out to close the 20th window i rememberd was open.

I turn the key on,and roll up the window.

Headlamps come on........ but recenly the rear view mirror mount glue busted so i have the harness disconnected and the mirror on the pass seat.

I wonder what told the lights to come on with the lack of the photo diode.  What told them to go off,, Ill have to look into this.

IIRC isn't there a sensor in the top of the dash, in the center, that senses when to turn the lights on or off?.:D

Sensor on the mirror is the auto bright dimming sensor... Has nothing to do with the Auto Lamp on/off function... That sensor is inside the center of the dash(square cutout with slotted cover)...
