A quest for the car parts jockey's February 25, 2005, 08:47:15 PM Yup, got a quest for the vato.. er autozoners, or anyone working at a decent car parts place. A while back the question was posed as to whether '88 monte carlo tail pipes would work on our cars. The task (if you can manage it) would be to line up either one of our tail pipes (or mustang for that matter) next to the monte pipes. If you can take some pics, that would be great. If not just report back on what the differences are (I wanna say the down pipe section to the rear of the axle is longer). I've tried doing this myself, however the parts stores either never have both or won't let me compare them without buying them :disappoin :wtf: . Anyways, your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Quote Selected

It really to hard to tell that way, which is why an in person look would come in handy. Anyway to "order for a customer" with out the customer? Quote Selected
Re: A quest for the car parts jockey's Reply #3 – February 26, 2005, 07:39:46 PM Stranger things have happened - I just put a set of Explorer wheels on my Dakota, and to add an even stranger element to the mix I used Crown Vic Police Interceptor hubcaps as centers, Ford logos and all :hick: Quote Selected
Re: A quest for the car parts jockey's Reply #4 – February 26, 2005, 07:55:12 PM Well, like I mentioned, it looks like the "are" similar. The only difference I can discern, and this is comparing to a stang pipe, that the downflowing section that would be to the back of the axle looks longer. The bends seems like they flow in the same directions and I think this is a result of similar body dimensions. Also things like axle and gas tank placement come into play. I even looked up body dimensions (88 models of both an SS and bird) and they are virtually identical. So it seems reasonable that they should cross pollute as it were! Quote Selected
