The new MM&FF was actually good!

I got the latest issue in the other day and I read it yesterday over some leftover Turkey...

They named Huber's 4-Cyl Mustang the #4 Mustang of th Year (out of a Top 10). They stupidly call it a 2.3 multiple times, and then 179ci (it's real displacement with the 1 of 60ish tall-deck SVO race block, it's 3.0L). Good press anyways.

Then in the race coverage they show it again for winning (9.90 average) and Jackie Hensley's 2.3 Pinto (13 second category winner).

No real non-Mustang stuff (*sigh*) but, they're new project car is kick ass!

A 1 of none Windeveil Blue Shelby GT500. They cut it up and Evan Smith (the new Editor who's been in car mags forever and actually started off in the GM world) is turning it into a real NHRA Super Stock car! For the first time 40 odd years a Ford will actually have a shot at the SS crown. I might actually have to renew my subscription...

Support them after they said they'll never do another article featuring the 2.3? Bah...I'm not giving them anymore of my money, I can see all the cool stuff I want on the web with better pictures and a lot more useful information.

That is cool that they are doing that but once again I don't but Mustangs' Mustangs, and Few (if any other) Fords'. Mustangs are cool and everyone wants or has on. Woop Woop.

The coolest article was the compounded boost on that cobra.

Is it just me, or does that mag (as well as 5.0) seem to cater to the 05 and later crowd?

That mag used to be my favorite for fox body info and cheap builds.

I actually got all excited when I would get a new issue. Now I read it front to back in 30 minutes....bummer. I skip over the 05 and later .

Just doesn't seem the same anymore.

Great news tho! ...there are more forums popping up so we can see what "real" hot rodders are building!

Mike:

I wonder who actually is bank rolling that GT500 S/Stock project, because to be competitive, it will take at least $ 100,000.00 (including the price of the car) to do it.

When I saw that SS/A lettering on the window, I said no way.
Hope it happens tho.

The driver certainly looks to be the best pick tho. He has done a great job with his 93 Cobra look-a-like Stocker.

That would be Jackie Flanders ;) funny thing is, that is no way a 13 second car, it was running for  and just happened to fall into that average. After the TS competion, they found a leaking carb bonnet gasket.

I could believe that Evan was at least partially (if not totally) funding that build. He did buy a GT a few years ago and then sold it.

I would not be surprised to learn that Ford is bankrolling it (how else could he pull a 1-of-none GT500?)

New stuff more press. i get 5.0&Super Fords, they do alot of coverage of he new(05-up) stuff but its whats new in the game and stuff thats never been done before. that has alot to do with it but i understand completely what your sayin. I feel the same way ive just accepted it as another Mustang thing, an we all know those dont have to make sense cause they have Mustangs so they're cool no matter what....:shakeass:
