who needs some cash? August 01, 2007, 01:54:04 AM i have shop manuals needing scanned. ill guess there are all in total about 3000 pages. That is probably a high estimation. My son wants a TC,,, i love my coug,, my other youngest is getting turned on the the Tbird look,,,,,,,,so for thier sake,, id like to make this stuff go soft copy. Pack away the books and put em back on the shelf in the garage to pull out when the computer aint available.an example of the type of scans would be like whats posted here on a cruise control problem.http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=14879 Quote Selected

who needs some cash? Reply #7 – August 01, 2007, 11:32:28 PM well,,, my first of several books measure up as follows.micrometer says that 100 physical pages mic out to be .200'' thick.the whole manual mics out at 1.500'' thick.this means100 physical pages = pages 1-200overall pages estimated front and back are 1500.so if your lucky enough to spend 1 minute on each page,, that is 25 man hours on this one book. Im thinking more like 35 hours to factor in oh shiznit moments and opps i gotta rescan that one,, which will likely happen about every 4 page there abouts.so a full work week just for one manual at an hourly rate or an agreed bid amount.is there another technology available and affordable for scanning like a wand or something so one can just flip pages and wave a wand over the text?I want the pages to be .jpg at or about 124k per page.this survey accounts for three manuals about the same thickness. there are two others that measure out half as thick and a sales brosure for a tbird in landscape format full color.so,, about 6000 pages of suff to scan,,,,,,,wheeewwwwwi wonder if ford has this stuff archived in pdf or some other medium.
