Im renting a nissan morano this week,, super nice car plus that accent of a stretched out cougar window makes it grow on me a little more than id like cause its rice. The 3.5L FWD/AWD v6 is a really large motor for a nissan as well. This was the first time Ive driven something with a CVT transmission (humm, redundant:hick: ) and man does it feel wierd.

i gotta find out how much they are new. My company said i could rent it for longer if i wanted but i cant see paying 400 a week insurance included to do that. Id rather set up a dealer lease with extra miles at a cheaper rate.

anyone with opinions?

Its gonna be a long and boring drive to savanna ga from my house there. I 77 south nearly all the way there execpt for one short run on I 95 then to highway 21 to the hotel.

Ill let you all know what i think after the trip when i get back on thurs.

So far i can see three design problems,, and these two will be in your face during all days you own the car.

1- the rear hatch is only opened by pushing the unlock button on the key fob twice. There is no interior button to open it and the rear hidden push putton pad handle is really for those with a good grip.

2- the fuel lid release door has no interior button. You can only open it by pushing the key fob unlock button twice. once done, you can push in on the fuel door and its spring loaded thing pops it out.

3- I saved this for last,,,,,,,,
***you can not run down the road in this car with only the rear windows open. If you do so the percussion of a helecopter will make you feel like there is a moth flopping around inside your ear drum. The sound is like a deep bass thump thump thump thump thump and first thoughts are you just blew a tire.

lease? lease? dont be stupid. erm excuse me for that. but yeh, i wouldnt lease anything that i have to invest b/c i wont see any of that money back. oil, tires, etc, etc... find something suitable to finance... besides, what are you ganna do if you lose the key-bob? not ever fill up or open the back hatch?

Chrysler pacificas do this EXACT SAME THING. Its REALLY REALLY bad and about blows your eardrums out.

Many new cars have no provision for a trunk/rear hatch in the vehicle. It's either key fob or the key itself. Same way in my Mustang.

CVT's are weird. I know Subaru stopped using them a while back. People were complaining that the tranny wouldn't shift.

(actually the ECVT was a nightmare. CVT's can't handle much torque and fly appart quickly)

It's interesting to always be in the torque band, though.

IMO. i dunno im real old-school like that i wanna hear it go up and down in rpms like its supposed to. yeah thats right i am claiming that that method is the only right way it should sound.:flip:

also to me the murano/fx35 is a roller skate/sneaker with an engine on it. cant stand the front end. if you like it, GREAT. THAT is what matters.

the problem is i dont like ANYTHING new. except the charger, mustang, and future challenger and camaro. but then those arent really new, they look like OLD cars so there you go. :D

oh God everyday i see everyone driving new cars, i luv our cars' look that much more. i feel so special and warm and fuzzy inside.

have fun tho, probably a great car to drive, nissans are well built right? should last a long time.

Ok, the gas door thing is just wierd. I can imagine a bunch of people getting to the pump for the first time, and going how the hell do I open this thing>????

to clear up the quote on my "lease" comment,

I was thinking a lease would be cheaper rather than renting for a month at a time. The company is paying and i just figured the lease would be more cost effective since they would be paying that as well. It wont be my car perse'

as for my list of things i found,, they remain in place. I found one other mnor thing.

The arm rest is adjustable forward or aft. with the seat settings on mid range from the dash and wheel, your right elbow will barely if at all make contact to the armrest / console.
Thats one big thing i like about my coug, my left elbow can rest on the "arm rest" and my right elbow can rest on the console "arm rest"
and they are just about level with eachother when the seat settings are correct.

This car is rather pricey as i saw 48k on one website. Nissan and toyota spend all that time getting in bed with consumer reports to bash the safety/cost of US cars only to raise the bar on thier price as well.
