AOD-E down shift problems April 23, 2007, 09:19:18 PM The trans in the bird has a problem when I get on it and it tries to down shift. The RPMs go to about 5000 then it down shifts and barks the tires. It only does it on down shift. If you just take off its fine. There is no kick down linkage that I found to adj beings its a computer controlled trans. I just don't want to break the rear end on the car because its exspencive and a PITA to change out. Sounds like somethings stuck in the valve body. I take it that it shifts that high under light loads? Quote Selected
AOD-E down shift problems Reply #5 – April 24, 2007, 02:33:21 PM Yes, going down the road around 65mph and 1/2 throttle to pass some one it will jump way up in RPM. Then kick in and bust the rear tires loose.I just got the car in Oct. I don't even know if the fluid has ever been changed. Its still bright red. Quote Selected

Dealer tried to tell me the clutches were bad, told them they were FOS as down shifting into 2nd has always been fine... Fix??? I installed one of the B&M electronic shift improvers and with "F" type fluid it's still shifting good at 126K mi... Guessing it has a valve body issue, but I don't really care... Quote Selected
