Timing Gears, Oil Catch Cans, and Line-Locs?

3 Questions:

1. Timing gears: Is the round-tooth set up worth it? I'm going to buy an adjustable gear and I don't know if I should stick with the square tooth or buy a round tooth and change the car?

2. Oil Catch Cans: Even my dual PCV-sytem broke. So it all went into the trash for an oil catch can. The "plan" is to buy an Essy valve cover and have the tapped hole moved to the passenger side. I'll run some line from the crankcase oil seperator in the block to the can, and from the VC to the can. Anybody else running one or lose the PCV set up?

3. Line-Locs: I have a B&M Line-Loc, any disadvatage to having it? Problem is where do I mount the button considering I want N2O later on...

Here's the set-up on the old engine.

The issue was a dead cylinder, so it was still puking.  There is no PCV and both the crank breather and valve cover breather go to the catch can.  I have a small vac line going to the turbo inlet just to put a little vac on the catch can.

Supposedly, the round tooth setup is less likely to jump time. I've never had a problem with that on my square tooth setup though, so I dunno.

I already mentioned what happened with my planned oil catch can.

As for the line-loc...why not mount the button on the dash down where the premium fuel switch and all that is? mine has a bunch of empty space down there, seems like a good spot.

Hey chuck, what kinda serpentine setup is that? I notice you have no tensioner....odd.

Thanks Chuck! Should I have any difficulties mounting it low? My IC is where yours is and seeing as how all the A/C "fell" out of my car and the stock airbox and charcoal tank went with it, I have a nice spot to mount it. It's low and by the rad. I like the vacuum idea! might have to do that.

Red_LX; I heard the opposite, that round-tooth jumps but it makes 5-7HP across the board?
I didn't see your oil can thread, got a link?
My Premium Fuel switch has a power antenna switch next to it :hick:

I'll probably wire it to the Hurst T-Handle until I get the N2O. Who know, I might want the nitrous switch somewhere else instead.

Michael, It shouldn't be a problem with mounting low, I just wanted mine out of the way.  I actually don't have an IC in there yet.  Was dealing with the other issues and then never got around to it before I took it apart again.

Red LX...it's not a serpetine set-up.  It's a "I didn't feel like changing the alt pulley, and I had the rest of the micro-v pullies...so that's what I did. :P

I didn't have a catch can thread, you posted about your new one the other day and I mentioned that I had wanted to run one, but could find a good place to mount the thing.

As far as the round tooth thing...I never heard about it being more likely to jump, I've always heard the opposite. I think I recall hearing about the slight HP bump, something about less resistance or somethin, I dunno :dunno:
