electronic cluster fuel guage vs buttstuffog sender... DOI!

ok, so i didn't know if i should start a new thread of just add this to my HO thread, but i figured i might get more looks here......  so i had to get a fuel tank from an 88 thunderbird because of the ho swap, so evidentally the sending unit in the tank is from an buttstuffog guage and i have an electronic one... the problem here is that the buttstuffog sender reads ohms REVERSE of what the digital one does (10 when full to 73 when empty vs 215 when full to 4 when empty)... no wonder my fuel guage isn't working.... i tested the sender and it is reading 9.6 ohms (and it's full), so it seems to be working...... is there anything i can do to my guage to make it work aside from mounting an buttstuffog guage up there.... if that's my only choice, i might as well just convert it all to buttstuffog (since my shift indicator no longet works too because of the floor shift swap)..... if i do that, will my speedo work ok since it's on a cable, and how do i hook my tripminder up to it (i guess i need a fuel and speed sensor for that)........  i was going to complain about all these little problems i'm having, but at least she goes FAST now  :)

Hi!,

It's not a great problem there, swap Your original sender in Your new tank, that's it!!!...

Last year I made a conversion from a BASE electronic cluster to a FULL electronic cluster, I hunted a syards for a digital cluster cars, tbird/cougar and some aerostars full digital, and found a 89 cougar with a full digital cluster, I removed the plastic resistor bloc from the fuel pump assy, and clipped on My sender (I have a carbed 85 bird, no elec fuel pump), and this work okay...

For Your dial PRND21 cable, just pick up one from a base cluster, and repair Your with it...

Hope this help...
