hardwiring a radar

has anyone here ever hardwired a radar detector? i have a cat3 cable which is what the detector needs. and i have several number of wires to choose from that might be the power wire and the ground wire. white, black, red, green, yellow and blue. black and red doesnt work. thx -chris
