Peeling Paint off the Trim? August 28, 2006, 03:47:39 PM Does anyone know of a good way to peel the black paint off the trim around the windshield? It is in poor condition with little chips everywhere revealing chrome and primer. I want to be careful also to not scratch the chrome underneath. Quote Selected
Peeling Paint off the Trim? Reply #1 – September 17, 2006, 12:36:49 PM Don't know any good ways to get it off, but on my '86 I re-blacked it all with a can of matte black Krylon and it held up for 6 years. Quote Selected
Peeling Paint off the Trim? Reply #2 – September 17, 2006, 07:46:53 PM Pull it off and sandblast it. Better use walnut shells so you don't mess it up. Quote Selected
Peeling Paint off the Trim? Reply #3 – September 18, 2006, 02:59:54 AM I used a ser and sand paper. When I re-painted it I used etching primer before painting (very important if you want the paint to last and not flake). Quote Selected
Peeling Paint off the Trim? Reply #4 – September 18, 2006, 10:23:47 PM He doesn't want to repaint it guys, nor does he want to damage the chrome underneath. I would try using a plastic ser and maybe a heat gun. Quote Selected
