Cruise control Gremlins!! My accell isn't working

when i push the accel button on the steering wheel it acts like it is going to work then the car backs off and stays steady. it all works fine for cruising but if i hit the button to increase speed it doesn't. any ideas

I'd say it's the button, a vacuum line, or the wiring in the steering column.
84 TC 302 -5.0L/t5/7.5 locking rear and a 3.45 gear, Edelbrock Intake, Aluminum Heads, Edlebrock 65mm Throttlebody, Edlebrock Cam, 24lb injectors & MAS Air Sensor calibrated via chip,  BBK headers, Catback H pipe, Magnaflow lers :evilgrin:

It could be the contact rings on the back of the steering wheel. They tend to fall apart over time.
I had a similar problem with my '88 XR7. It went away when I replaced the cruise servo in the fender.
